The Carleton Computer Science Society (CCSS) will be running a week of awesome events for computer science students the second week of school. Think of it as a way for students to get engaged with the people who are in their classes along with their professors in a more computer science- specific setting. Here are the details:

  • Monday, September 12th at 2:30pm: Coffee Social This event will be a great place to chat with your fellow students and faculty and have some free coffee and snacks! We run these every two weeks.
  • Monday September 12th at 6:30pm: Ladies Chat & Code Night Women in computer science can come hear experiences and information regarding what others have done in the field recently and to discuss common roadblocks for folks in CS.
  • Tuesday, September 13th at 5:00pm: Shopify Intern Open House Come learn about how to get an internship at Ottawa’s top tech company.
  • Wednesday, September 14th at 2:30pm-3:30pm: Sh*t I Wish I Knew (1st Year) Come learn from some of the mistakes and pitfalls other students made when they were in first year
  • Wednesday, September 14th at 3:30pm-4:30pm: Sh*t I Wish I Knew (2nd Year) Second years! Come learn what we messed up so you don’t have to.
  • Wednesday, September 14th at 5:30pm: Pub Night! Come out, eat, drink, and be merry at Mike’s Place (one of Carleton’s two on-campus bars) with us.
  • Thursday, September 15th at 5:30pm: Tech Talks We will be having a speaker from an influential company come in and discuss learning techniques, along with some Carleton researchers showing off the cool stuff they’ve done.
  • Friday, September 16th at 5:00pm: Introduction to Boardgaming Come enjoy some cool board games with the Carleton Tabletop Club!
